The term “self consumption” refers to the share of electricity produced by the photovoltaic system and consumed directly on-site, at the point of production, so the losses from energy transmission and transformation are minimal.
The independent power production ensures long-term independence and predictability of costs. And if there is an option within the PV system to store the electricity produced in batteries, independent power supply can be ensured – even if there is a grid failure of the electricity-distribution company!

In the systems for self - consumption, the generated power is used with priority to cover the consumption of the local loads connected to the internal grid. The excess energy, if any, is fed into the grid of the energy-distribution company which buys it out on the basis of a preferential tariff determined by the State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission. And the opposite – if the generated power is not sufficient to cover the current consumption, the difference is compensated by the grid of the energy-distribution company. The period for the excess power purchase has been legally determined to twenty years.
